Set amongst the trees of Highgate
Oak House is a new home set in a secluded location in an old parkland setting. The materials draw on the wooded nature of the site and the traditional building materials of London. Vertical oak cladding is set above Portland stone. The rough texture of the timber cantilevers over the smooth stone surface below.
The layout of the house give connected open plan living. This arrangement of connected spaces, viewed obliquely, connected views through glazing, allows the feeling of open plan living, with the convenience of enclosed rooms. Sliding pocket doors allow the connectivity to be adjusted to suit the occasion.
The upper level has 5 bedrooms with a master suite with its own balcony overlooking the garden.
The basement area contains a home office and the house utility areas. With a glazed external light well this can be accessed by the external staircase giving the office its own entrance.
