PROJECTS STUDIO NEWS CONTACT HOME South elevation of South Barn North and South Barn make a group of Listed stone barns adjacent to a Grade 1 Listed house dating back to the Elizabethan period. Built of stone and brick the house was one of the finest houses in Kent at that time.

It is reputed that Elizabeth I visited the house on several occasions. In later years it was reduced in size and the stone was used to build the outer walls of North Barn. 

During the works Elizabethan brickwork was uncovered in some internal partitions. South Barn was constructed in 1837,also built of the local stone and built in courses with irregular shaped stone a technique known as ragstone. Boughton Malherbe
